Hi, I have ten years of experience in the IT industry and am experienced in Windows Server, virtualization, and Citrix technologies. Unfortunately, I couldn't complete my +2, but I managed to earn a degree through the Open University. Will companies hire me?

Acquiring a degree is one thing, and possessing in-depth knowledge and competency in specialized fields, along with hands-on proficiency, is another. If you can convincingly showcase your proficiency, backed by eight years of experience, that should secure job offers. Most of the Open University degrees would be suitable for working professionals required to meet higher education qualifications essential for confirmation, promotions, and statutory positions. For a fresher, degrees from Open University are generally not taken seriously when competing with scores of candidates from regular courses. I'm not trying to discourage you. When you have the age and resources, regular courses are relatively better. However, in your case, your experience should overcome any challenges. Stay positive and keep pursuing opportunities. I'm confident you will succeed. Don't be disheartened by setbacks; there are plenty of opportunities ahead.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi,

Bitter but the truth is 'NO'. You will not be hired on-roll or directly by any listed/good company since you don't have 10+2+3. Since you are in the IT industry, you will get plenty of consultant roles through TPAs. So keep good track and contact with leading TPAs to get you good offers.

Distance Education vs. Regular Courses

Distance education is given second priority during preliminary screening and for promotions. Candidates who have completed regular courses are given priority. Attending regular classes, lectures, taking notes, industrial visits, attending seminars, and participating in general college activities give regular course candidates an edge over distance education candidates who are not exposed to any of these.

Leveraging Industry Contacts

With your 10 years of experience, you should have good contacts in the industry that could help you find openings to apply for.
