A month after leaving a company, I emailed the payroll team to inquire about the status of my full and final amount. They replied that I owe some recovery amount to them for the relocation services they provided in the initial days of my employment. However, as per the offer letter, I paid the relocation package amount to them before leaving the company. They are now contesting that I need to pay the total relocation amount, which includes the services as well. Yet, nowhere in the offer letter are these services mentioned. Only the relocation amount that the company provided to me at the time of joining is mentioned, and I have already paid that. Due to this, my total due to the company exceeds the full amount that the company owes to me. Could anyone please help on how to go about this and any legal services I need to avail here?
