Ours is a media company, and due to shifts, the employees (male/female) work until 11 pm. My first question is, is a drop facility important?

Due to some shows and makeup artists, sometimes females have to do night shifts once a month. What compliances should be covered?

Drop Facility for Women Employees Working Night Shifts

For women employees working the night shift, which ends after 9:00 pm, you must provide a drop facility with security. The employee must be dropped at her doorstep, and the vehicle must wait until she enters her house and closes the door.

You are required to maintain a complete record of the vehicle, including details of the driver. The driver's background must be checked before employment. Record the time of departure, time of arrival at home, and dropping off the employee.

The security person accompanying the female employee must call the concerned person at the employee's house to confirm that she has been safely dropped off at her home. The employee should also be instructed to confirm her safe arrival.

All these records must be maintained, and the cost of transportation and security must be borne by the company.

Conditions for engaging female employees during the night shift as per the Maharashtra Shops Act are as follows (earlier permission was required to be obtained):

- Female employees must provide consent to work during the night shift.
- There should be a minimum of two or more female employees working the night shift.
- Security personnel should be female guards.
- Female employees should be provided with lockers.
- Transportation to and from the workplace should be arranged.

Thank you.
