Hello seniors,

My query is about the maternity leave for the employees after the latest bill which has passed in Lok Sabha last week for 26 weeks of paid leave. We are a small company of 13 employees, and we are turning 2 years old in April 2017. My director has asked me to frame proper and accurate maternity leave policies that will not be questionable by the employees in the future. Please help me with your valuable inputs. I'm confused.

You'd better include maternity benefits along with the leave policy if you have it. If not, prepare the leave policy and add the same. As it is a government rule, if you need to follow the Maternity Benefit Act, then there is no need for any policy. Nevertheless, it's advisable to wait until the Gazette notification is released.
