Recently, I have joined a manufacturing company as an HR professional, having previously worked in the food (bakery ingredients) industry. Here, I am responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Specifically, I would like to know which statutory compliances and registers need to be maintained under the Haryana Establishment Act, such as the Safety Act, Contract Act, Overtime Act, etc.

I kindly request your assistance in sharing your valuable knowledge on this matter.

Dear Himanshi, first of all, you have to identify which acts are applicable to your organization. You have not mentioned whether your unit is covered under the Factory Act as well. Also, clarify whether you have deployed any contractual labor at your unit; if so, what is the maximum number deployed on a daily basis. In general, your query seems to be covered under the Shops and Establishment Act. As per my opinion, the following need to be complied with:

EPF Act
ESI Act
Minimum Wages Act
Payment of Wages Act
Bonus Act
Gratuity Act
Employee’s Compensation Act
Maternity Benefit Act
Contract Labour Act (if deploying contractual labor)

Dear Sir,

Thanks... Kindly let me know how we can determine which acts are applicable to my industry (Bakery Raw Ingredients). Our factory is covered under the Factory Act. The employer is reporting only 10-15 persons to the Labour Department. We are not hiring any contractual labor. Kindly inform me of the registers I need to maintain to fulfill the requirements of the Labour Department.
