I got selected for an MNC IT company in Hinjewadi, Pune. I refused to join the company one day before joining, and HR threatened me that he would blacklist me through NSR, so I couldn't apply for any tier 1 IT company as they would be able to access my data even using a PAN Card number. I am not registered on NSR.

Can you please help me understand if this is legal that an employee can be blacklisted through NSR?

Understanding Blacklisting Concerns

Chances of blacklisting are rare. However, there seem to be some lapses on your part. Why have you refused to join even after selection? If you were not satisfied with any of the terms they offered, you could have communicated that earlier. You can easily understand the reasons for the troubles of these people simply because you did not show up after selection and acceptance. Now, they probably have to go through the recruitment procedure once again, which involves a lot of time and considerable expenditure.

My advice to you is to avoid this in the future and communicate your decision to the concerned party on time.
