I am facing several problems regarding HR. Basically, I am a Business Graduate in Marketing, but I am working in a Manufacturing Company as an HR professional. I really don't have any idea how to conduct HR tools and strategies. Moreover, I am interested in HR Strategy since this company does not belong to any strong corporate culture. However, I believe I can contribute to developing one.

Seeking Guidance on HR Strategy

Do you think I should go through any reference books or other resources to learn about strategy? Also, do you think my knowledge in marketing will impact my ability to learn and implement HR strategies? Please provide me with some detailed ideas if possible.

Thank you,

Understanding Your Role in HR

On what basis were you hired for the HR role? Secondly, what was your thought process behind accepting this offer? With all due respect, in my suggestion, you don't just need to refer to a book but should go through the entire training process to be an effective HR professional. HR is a very professional role. Even if you read or refer to a book, will you be able to handle end-to-end recruitment? You need to conduct an HR audit to find any loopholes. Also, you need to refer to the relevant companies act to ensure that all policies are framed within the legal framework of the act.

Once you are successful in hiring candidates, you would then have to set proper SOPs and formats for the rest of the employee lifecycle. You will have to take care of PMS, deciding which method would best suit and how to implement it. There is so much you will have to work on fundamentally.

Let us know if you have professional guidance in your organization to help you strategize.

Good luck!
