Dear All,

I need guidance as I was wrongly absconded, and half of my career is affected. No company is showing interest in hiring me due to someone's silly mistake. I am not a person who produces fake documents to get a job. Whenever I attend any interview, I am not afraid to tell HR that I was absconded for no reason. However, when I speak the truth, I am asked to leave and not allowed to continue the interview.

Reason for Absconding

The reason for my absconding is very silly. I was on leave and started receiving notices that I needed to report to work, or my services would be terminated. I contacted my team lead numerous times to inform him of the situation while I was on approved leave. He always responded, "Do not worry, I will take care of this." However, I ultimately received a termination letter, and my services were terminated. When I reported this to the HR team, they said it was clear that I was absconded, and that's how the system works. They were not interested in discussing it further and asked me to do the exit formalities and leave the office.

Efforts to Resolve the Issue

I fought back by sending emails to higher authorities. Eventually, the CEO himself got involved and took the matter seriously. A conference was held with the HR team, myself, and my team lead, which resulted in the CEO ordering the reversal of the termination. He asked me to collect the relieving from the company. However, the management refused to give me relieving, stating that I needed to pay an amount of Rs 6500 for a service certificate. Surprisingly, the payroll department indicated that it was the company who owed me Rs 13000 for the exit formalities.

Career Challenges and Current Situation

Despite these challenges, I was willing to do anything to protect my career. I was even ready to pay the Rs 6500, as I had already secured an offer from HSBC. Unfortunately, the background check by HSBC failed, leading to the loss of that opportunity. I eventually found a job at Sutherland Global Services in Vizag, where they did not conduct a background check. However, after a year, Sutherland closed its operations in Vizag, and I had to resign.

Now, I face the dilemma of explaining the one-year gap caused by my experience with the absconding company. If I mention this on my resume, I encounter two main issues: explaining the absconding incident and subsequent rejection, and addressing my short tenures at both companies (14 months each), which is perceived as a stability issue by potential employers.

I am currently in a challenging situation where I am struggling to find a job due to my past experiences. I earnestly seek the help of respected HR professionals in overcoming this obstacle. My future and career are in jeopardy due to someone's silly mistake. I was not an average employee; I was a top-rated employee and was on the brink of being promoted as a QA or SME. Please assist me in navigating through this difficult phase.

Thank you.

Dear All,

I need guidance as I was wrongly absconded, and half of my career is affected. No company is showing interest in hiring me due to someone's silly mistake. I am not a person who produces fake documents to get a job, and whenever I attend any interview, I am not afraid to tell HR that I was absconded for no reason. However, when I speak the truth, I am asked to leave and not allowed to attend further interviews.

The Reason for Absconding

The reason for absconding is very silly. I was on leave and started receiving notices that I needed to report to work or my services would be terminated. I contacted my team lead and informed him multiple times about this issue while I was on approved leave. However, he always responded with, "Do not worry, I will take care of this." Eventually, I received a termination letter, and my services were over. When I reported this to the HR team, they said it was clear I was absconded, and they were not interested in discussing it further. They instructed me to do the exit formalities and leave the office.

Efforts to Resolve the Situation

I fought back by sending emails to higher authorities. The CEO himself got involved, took the matter seriously, and had a conference with the HR team, myself, and my team lead. It was decided that the termination should be reversed, and I was asked to collect the relieving from the company. However, the management stated they could not provide me with the relieving but could offer a service certificate. They asked for an amount of Rs 6500 for this, even though the payroll department indicated that the company should pay Rs 13000 back to me if they initiated the exit formalities.

Due to the impact on my career, I was ready to do anything. I agreed to pay the Rs 6500, even though the company should have reimbursed me Rs 13000. At that time, I had an offer from HSBC. I pleaded with my HR manager to assist me in any way possible to ensure my career was not affected. Unfortunately, the background check from HSBC failed, leading to a loss of hope, and I decided to remove this experience from my resume.

Subsequent Employment and Challenges

Subsequently, I secured a job at Sutherland Global Services located in Vizag. They did not conduct a background check, but after a year, Sutherland closed its services in Vizag, resulting in my resignation.

Now, the dilemma I face is explaining the one-year gap due to the absconding incident. If I include this experience on my resume, I encounter two main issues: firstly, explaining the reason for absconding and subsequent rejection, and secondly, clarifying my employment with both companies for 28 months each (14 months per company).

In interviews, during the operations round, concerns regarding stability are raised due to my short tenures at both companies. This has led to perceptions of instability in my work history, hindering my job prospects. I never intended to leave my first company, which remains a top 10 branded MNC globally.

Current Situation and Request for Assistance

Presently, I am struggling to secure a job. The more I am honest about my past experiences, the more rejections I face, and the gap in my employment history continues to grow. It is becoming increasingly challenging to explain this extensive gap to HR professionals.

Respected HRs, please help me overcome this situation. My future and career are in jeopardy due to someone's silly mistake. I was not an average employee; I was a top-rated employee and already considered a valuable asset for the company. I was on the verge of being promoted as QA or SME. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Please help me.

Dear Friend,

I understand that some problem has taken place. But the way you have written makes it difficult for people to understand. Write your problem in a proper and simple manner. So many capital letters and one huge paragraph. If you project your problem properly, seniors will guide you.

Like Nathrao pointed out, it is better to bring some clarity by breaking into multiple paragraphs. Looking at your situation from another perspective, I am not sure how your resume looks. If it's similar or the same as this posting, then the problem may lie elsewhere.

Understanding Your Issue

To the best extent I could understand, I am not sure how you consider yourself to be 'absconding' when you received a proper Relieving Letter after the intervention of your CEO. Please confirm the exact wordings used in the Relieving/Experience Letter.

Based on my understanding, I don't think you need to highlight in every interview that you absconded. Also, please mention the dates, as giving periods in months/years doesn't help anyone provide accurate suggestions.

As the saying goes: "Every problem has a solution; we only need to look hard enough." Please confirm the details so that the members can give actionable suggestions.

All the best.

Regards,
TS

Thank you Nath Rao and Ravi Tajsateesh Ji for your valuable feedback. I know it is one paragraph; I should have written my problem in small paragraphs. But I don't think it is so hard to understand for those who know English. However, I will follow your instructions and provide all details in a simpler manner in a new post.

UNKLE_RAVI, thank you for your concerns. As you said you would help me, please let me know how I can get in touch with you.

Thanks
