Hi all, I worked in an online grocery company as a Category Manager. Unfortunately, my employer closed down the business overnight without providing any prior notice. They have not honored the 2-month salary as agreed upon in the offer letter. I worked for 8 months and earned close to 40K. Despite reaching out via email and phone calls to the CEO, HR, and Ops Head, I have not received any response. It has come to my attention that they are reopening the business under a different name. Approximately 150 employees have lost their jobs.
Seeking Legal Advice
I am seeking advice on whether I am eligible to pursue this matter through the Labour court and what kind of compensation I may be entitled to. According to my offer letter, I am owed two months' pay. I am based in Chennai and would appreciate guidance on the legal actions I can take.
Thank you for your assistance.

Among the employees who lost their jobs, there will be workers eligible to appeal in the labor court. Organize yourselves and fight unfair labor practices. Despite strict laws on shutdowns, some owners behave like this—showing no regard for the livelihood of employees. I wonder what will happen if regulations are curtailed in the vague name of ease of doing business. Our capitalists have a long way to go before being given a free hand in labor matters. Labor will get the short end of the stick in many cases, while PSU and government staff will remain a pampered lot.
