Hi,

There is a problem arising in our organization. In the accounting department, recently, 2 employees were recruited with higher salaries compared to the old employees with the same designation and profile. Now, the old employees are creating problems and demanding the same salary. They are not cooperating with the new employees, nor sharing old information or data with them. Our HR department has tried to convince them, but they are adamant in their stance. Can anyone suggest what to do to address this problem?

With Regards,
Kumar

Hi,

The old employees can't resort to this action. It is the management's prerogative to fix the salary of new employees. Let's discuss and try to convince. We shouldn't revise the salary of old employees as this could set a bad precedent. Instead, we should consider taking action against old employees.

"It is the management prerogative to fix the salary of new employees. Discuss and try to convince."

Management must exercise this prerogative in a reasonable manner. Did these two new employees bring something additional in the form of knowledge, qualifications, etc.? The fact that new employees are hired for the same job at a higher pay will create unhappiness. Management will have to try to convince old employees and not see it purely from a disciplinary angle alone.
