Appointment Letters Under Shops and Establishment Acts

Generally, states' Shops and Establishment Acts and the rules framed thereunder require issuing an appointment letter to an employee upon joining the organization. For example, Section 34 of the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act provides for this. Where Industrial Employment Standing Orders are applicable to a workman, model standing orders or certified standing orders govern the conditions of service unless better service conditions apply to the workman.

Thanks,
Sushil
