Hi friends,

I am working as an IT Recruiter. My educational background is B.Com and MBA. I don't have any technical knowledge. I have attended some interviews in MNCs, but I failed to get through. I used to receive feedback from the concerned person, like not good or very good in technical skills. A technical background is much preferred, and some feedback suggests I am average in technologies.

If you have any materials to learn more about IT technologies, please share them with me to help upgrade my technical skills.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kavitha,

I use the enclosed document to train the recruiters to become accustomed to technologies. I hope this will help you to some extent. It's always better if you discuss with your Hiring Manager to explain in detail the expectations so that you ensure that the candidates you send are a good fit for the role.

If you wish to understand briefly what the technology is about, try this in the Google search bar: define: <concept/term>. For example, if you want to understand what web services mean, type this in the search bar: define: web services (and hit enter). This will generate a list of definitions and explanations about the term.

Thanks,

Hi,

What you can do is whenever you get any requirement, do a Google search in that particular skill, read it, write it, and learn it on a daily basis. If you do this, then only it is possible; otherwise, it is a very difficult task.

In an interview, generally, the technical head will grill you. People who have done BE and then MBA, and then IT recruitment, will, of course, have more knowledge, and the market is full of them. So, you have to reach over them by reading more about technologies. This is the only solution.
