I can say it's your professional qualifications, skills, working experience, and capability to handle responsibilities. People management can help you become an HR Manager. If you are an HR executive, keep learning about HR and people management from your seniors. Learn how they handle critical situations related to HR; this will surely help you in your professional career.

Also, when you have a few years of experience, you can apply for the role of HR Manager if you meet the eligibility criteria specified by other companies.

Dear Swathi, As mentioned above also, there is no thumb-rule for becoming a Manager. But still you should give yourself some time before you really think that you are a manager material. Shikha

Our seniors have given you good answers, but I would like to add some points that may help you out.

Points to Consider for Becoming an HR Manager

1. Higher Qualifications and Practical Knowledge.
2. To become an HR Manager, a person needs to be self-motivated and should possess calmness and flexibility.
3. I would not say excellent communication is necessary, but what I realized is that communication should be clear, soft, precise, effective, and most importantly, qualitative.
4. You have to provide high-quality leadership to the HR Operations Unit and enhance HR’s capacity to meet current and future needs.

Moreover, HR is a very wide field. HR professionals have to be diplomatic in certain ways.
