Policy Implementation for IT Project Employees

I am working as an HR Manager in an IT (Network) company, and we have many projects. One of our projects has 20 employees working on it. For them, we have implemented a WCP policy. However, our client is now requesting a WHS & EHS Plan for our employees, despite us having already provided details about our Wage register, Labor license, PF, and ESIC challan, etc.

I would like to know how many policies can be implemented for these employees. Please assist me with this.

Regards,
Smita.

Please elaborate on the type of projects you handle. Also, elaborate on the acronyms used. Besides, "Plan" and "Policy" are two different things. It will be helpful for experts to advise you if you can elaborate more on your query.

Hi Smita, your question is "How many policies can be for employees?" This question is best answered by first asking, "Why do we need policies?"

Purpose of Employment Policies

The purpose of any policy is to ensure that workers understand what is expected of them and what they can expect to get in return. In addition, policies help to create a culture where issues are dealt with fairly and consistently. Having strong employment policies also helps employers to defend litigation more effectively. This could ultimately lead to greater productivity and morale as well as employee retention.

Therefore, it follows that the more policies (well-written, clear, and concise), the better.

Hope the above helps.

I am working as an HR Manager in an IT (Network) company with many projects. One of our projects has 20 employees, for whom we have implemented a Workers' Compensation Policy (WCP). However, our client is now requesting a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Plan for our employees, despite us already providing details on our Wage register, Labor license, PF, and ESIC challan. I am seeking guidance on how many policies should be taken for these employees. Your assistance is appreciated.

Guidance on Policies and Compliance

After reading your query, I would like to offer the following advice:

1. **Plan and Policy:** It's important to differentiate between "Plan" and "Policy." Consulting your company's legal advisor could be beneficial.

2. **W.C. Policy:** If ESIC is applicable, it may not be necessary to have a Workers' Compensation Policy as all medical and other facilities are covered under ESIC.

3. **P.T:** If employees are earning above Rs. 5000, you should deduct Professional Tax (P.T) of Rs. 175.

4. **L.W.F:** If the Labor Welfare Fund (L.W.F) Act is applicable, the L.W.F amount should be deducted.
