I am an MCA graduate from 2008 (distance learning). Due to some financial problems, I started teaching earlier, and in 2011, I joined a BPO where I have been working ever since. My dream job has always been to become a Software Engineer. Please suggest and guide me on how to pursue my dream job considering my current position.

Dear Vsahil313,
It's been 5 years now since you completed your MCA education. Far from your dreams, constant financial needs have cornered you. Your experience and earnings in BPO must meet your observed needs. What if you were to start in a software company as a fresher? Would you be able to cope with the expenses?
It's not that I, nor anybody else, stops you from pursuing your aspirations, but it's crucial to understand the decisive factors involved:
- You need to pursue a course (of your interest) and get certified to stay updated as clients desire in recent times.
- Consider joining a newly developing software company.
- You may be hired as a fresher, without prior experience.
- Does salary matter to you? If so, you may need to compromise.
Consider the positive aspects of your current situation:
- BPOs have high demands for good performers with good perks and promotions.
- Although BPOs may seem easy, these sectors have high requirements for growth strategies.
- In BPOs, there are Internal Job Postings (IJPs) and lateral movements suited to your criteria that you may choose to explore.
- Companies supporting software products often offer opportunities for overseas travel or desired positions based on performance.
The future depends on the path we choose, so choose wisely!
Sincerely,
Regards
