My profile has been up on Monster.com since last month. Last month, during my 1-1 discussion with my manager, it appeared that they felt I was not up to the mark for a promotion (though he did not outright say I'm out of the promotion), and I was angry about it as I had worked so hard and started a job search. I ended up with an offer, but today in the monthly 1-1 with my manager, he said he is recommending me for a promotion. I was happy and tried to pass up the offer I got, but when I explained the reasons to the job consultant, she said it may be possible that my employer has seen my resume up on Monster.com and hence came up with the promotion. But on my Monster.com profile, when I go to "Employers that viewed my resume," my employer's name is not there (but it shows only until 2 days ago, due to the large number of employer views).
Understanding Employer Views on Monster.com
So, I want to understand when an employer's name appears there as I don't know the layout shown to the headhunters/employers. Does it show the candidate's name, for example, without them having to click and open (only after which their name gets added to the 'viewed' list)?
The reason I'm trying to find out is that after I tried to pass up the offer, the company offering me further hiked their offer to an extent almost impossible for me to resist. If I leave, I want to feel less bad about my employer if they have been playing games (i.e., decided to promote me only after somehow knowing that I'm already starting job searching).

My reply comes to you late, but here's an option for everyone facing your question or situation. Please choose the option to hide your resume from a list of employers on job sites. You can choose any number of them. However, consultants might still be able to see them and report to your employer if they wish to. The chances for this remain thin, as most of them might not.
Social networks and talent communities offer you privacy options. This can help you control who views your data. LinkedIn, however, might not. If you are updating or interacting with recruiters other than through their messaging system, it remains visible.
