Hi, I am a 2010 B Tech pass out. I joined a company in the BPO sector as they said we would be posted onto software projects after 6 months of working in the BPO. However, later, I got to know that I need to work for 18 months. The feeling I experienced was something like we were being squeezed out of our blood and living on it. The goals given to us were so hectic right from the beginning. I realized I was wasting my time and just wanted to pursue some software courses to enter the software sector.

Now, the company has sent me a show-cause notice as I left the company, stating that disciplinary action would be taken. What is this? Is this the life I deserve? Why should they play with my life when all I want is to transition out of the BPO sector? They are pressuring me to rejoin the company immediately. Can I take legal action against the firm? Please advise.

Why Consider a Career in Engineering Over BPO?

Why should you join a BPO when you are qualified in Engineering? Go to your core area. Joining and leaving an organization without completing the formalities is not healthy in the long term, and you need to improve on this front.

Thank you for the response, Pon and Rahul. Yes, Pon, I am working on being more stable from now onwards. However, they mentioned it was related to networking, but in reality, we were focused on achieving targets for customer satisfaction on calls. Additionally, as a new employee on the floor, they would often make us sit for extended hours beyond the scheduled 8-hour shift. Even after logging off, they would require us to take more calls to meet the targets. I found this practice unfavorable and it made me uncomfortable.
