Regarding payroll structure, you may refer to payroll resources at http://wiki.greytip.in/wiki/Pay_Structure_Faqs, which would be helpful.

You need to divide payroll into four parts:

1. Employee details (token no., name, doj, designation, dept).
2. Days present in the month (including leaves/leave status must be shown).
3. Actual salary details (Basic, DA, HRA, Conv, Spl....).
4. Earned salary details (earnings of Basic + DA + HRA +.....) - Deductions like (PF + ESI + TDS + Professional Tax + G. insurance + loan + advance......) = Net salary.

This is only for an idea for you. If you have any specific payroll package, it is enough. If you need, I will send a copy to you. Email me at ksrinivas.hr@gmail.com.

Hi, check the minimum basic rates prevailing in your state. The basic should not be below the minimum wages of the related state. For low-grade salaries, you can keep the basic as a maximum (it should not be less than the minimum wages as per the Act), while for high grade, you may fix the basic rate as 25-30% and then determine other allowances while considering ITax, etc.

Best regards,
