Dear all, I'm doing a project on benchmarking recruitment practices.
I'm having a problem. After collecting the data about the recruitment practices of different companies, how can these practices be benchmarked? Are there any statistical tools? Waiting for your responses.

Hi Bharti,
Benchmarking can be done on various bases. For example, a finance manager may benchmark on a cost basis, while a production manager may focus on quality-based benchmarking.
First, clearly understand the basis on which you would like to benchmark. For instance, in the recruitment industry, there are companies with good performance. Some are cost-effective, while others excel in their practices. Therefore, decide on the criteria for benchmarking, identify the leading company based on that criteria, and commence benchmarking that firm or company.
I hope I have addressed your query.

Hey, there are a lot of statistics you can use for benchmarking, depending on what quantitative data you have collected. Ratio analysis is most commonly used - the number of days taken to recruit a person, correlating that with the number of methods used for recruiting, average number of applicants received using a particular method of recruitment, etc. If you have done cross-industry benchmarking, you could use ANOVA, chi-square, etc., to compare and test hypotheses.

Hi Rishabh!
Thank you a lot for your response. Through my questionnaire, I have collected information such as recruitment channels employed, advertising media, factors for assessing the fit for a job, types of tests conducted, drop out rate on any joining, training period, etc.
Please provide some more details about ANOVA and Chi-square.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Hey,
Chi-square and ANOVA are tools used in statistics for hypothesis testing. If you haven't used them, my advice would be to not use them as it's difficult to use them properly unless you are very comfortable with the tools. These tests determine if there is a significant difference in parameters, such as the training period across different industries like pharma, retail, banking, etc. This is dependent on the size of your sample; if it's too small, i.e., less than 30, the test won't be effective unless you have very representative data. For example, in a specialized industry where the total number of companies is less than 30, the population size would be the sample size. I hope you understand these statistical terms.
You can also conduct correlation studies, such as correlating the training period with dropout rates, to gather more insights.
