We have given our employees 10 statutory holidays in a year out of which 2 are optional holidays that can be chosen from the statewise holidays list.
Out of these 10 holidays - there are mandatory 4 Public holidays - 26 Jan ( Republic day), 01 May ( Labour day), 15 Aug ( Independance day) & 2nd Oct ( Gandhi Jayanti).
My question is - if one of the public holidays falls on Sunday, then are we mandated to provide another paid holiday so that employees dont lose out on that statutory holiday as committed in the company leave policy?

It is not mandatory or compulsory to substitute one public holiday which falls on Sunday, to
any other working day. However, if you want your employees to enjoy all 10 holidays, then it is your call.
However, while preparing and circulating List of Holidays, you may mention the name of public holiday and the date, even if it falls on Sunday
