Respected sir,
i am very much thankful to you for your valuable suggestion. i have collected the profile of the companies and the major products and technologies they have been using to increase their revenues.
I will be visiting the companies very soon.
I want to know what sort of information should i collect from these companies .I need to calculate how the company is managing it's operation or how is the company using the tools of "OPERATION MANAGEMENT",so that i can compare between the two companies and establish a conclusion.

Hi Kuntal,
Please give me some more info about yourself and your knowledge of OM.
Also, kindly let me the companies and their operations. Have you done some literature survey to arrive at any hypothesis and arrived at any conceptual frame work for your research. Have you decided what research methodology you will use, etc?
Best wishes

respected sir,
i am a b.tech student of computer science. i have read operation management as a a part of our curriculum in one of our semesters.
Two people are doing this project ,my father works for TATA STEEL and my partner's father works for SAIL.
we are preparing a questionnaire to gather information and data about topics like (new product development , inventory , capacity planning, growth of the organization, new technology used ,material handling , maintenance ,quality control , increase in revenues , challenges before the company etc)
What else should we add to our questionnaire?
At last we would try to find what are the major things TATA STEEL did and SAIL did not to come in the top ten companies of the world .
we are collecting data from sources like(internet , annual report of the company ,questionnaire )
we will be visiting the companies shortly and for this purpose we are preparing a questionnaire to gathering information from he employees.

Dear Kuntal,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I wish you had given all this info at the outset to save on the correspondence. Please see the following site
Pearson - Introduction to Operations and Supply Chain Management, 2/E which gives the chapter headings of a book I followed when I taught MBA for Mfg Mgt undergraduates and MBAs.
Try and see if you have missed any of the key issues, like the supply chain issues. However, one has to be careful not to go overboard, given the time constraints. As it is only an undergraduate project as opposed to a masters degree one, you seem to have covered a majority of issues.
Wish you all the best.

Hello ..
I'm also doing a similar type of project .. only thing is that I have to interview a real operations manager and elaborate on what I get from the interview in the paper .. questions can be regarding any aspects of operations mgt .. mainly supply chain and others involving productivity, location strategy, inventory mgt etc.
Little help on questions that I could include in the questionnaire would be very much appreciated ..
Thanks
