Put some attractive gifts for the winners to motivate them and make it compulsorily for every department to participate in one activity. You can organize Rangalory competition, Diwali decoration in each department, Best home made sweet competition, Best best motivational diwali message that can be even in form of short drama, Diwai Card making competition.

Hello Snehalu,
Diwali is celebrated from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Ask the people from various states about the celebration in their place.
Take some material from Internet also and put clippings/ print out/ handwritten messages in the notice boards.
You will find all different rituals, sweets, stories, beliefs etc about Diwali.

Hey you can disburse bonus along with gift vouchers along with gift item.
Also you can organise dance party for your employee and ask them to come on dress code (company define) all of them will enjoy and remember you forever - - you can add on with funny punishment at the party if someone will not be in dress code.. Punishments like dare or truth, dance like anything, catch someone with closed eyes and dance with him/her... like that you can make the day great ..
