f my writing hurt anyone feelings then I do apologize for that. Can anybody tell me why some guys are so penny wise and pound foolish? From my personal experiences I have seen that--- if you try to do something new which you don’t have any prior experience, you will receive a lot of preposterous and hilarious comments which are not worth a pin’s fee.

Hi Prabinh,

Thanks for providing me the link.

Yeah, I am able to understand your feelings... there are fewer people who will encourage you if you venture into anything new. That is life, and that is how the world is.

This has also happened to me in my personal life many times. I avoid such wet blankets in my life and move on. If we attach importance to such small-minded people, we cannot progress in life.

By the way, I would like to highlight the meaning of the idiom used here, "Penny wise and Pound foolish," and I don't know how it fits in the context of your topic.

The meaning of the phrase is something along the lines of "saving a little money only to lose a great deal more due to their own stupidity."

PENNY WISE AND POUND FOOLISH - "Overcareful about trivial things and undercareful about important ones. The literal image is of the person who fusses over small amounts of money to such an extent that he misses opportunities to save or make large amounts. But the figurative image goes way back; in 'The Historie of Foure-footed Beastes' (1607), Edward Topsell wrote: 'If by covetousness or negligence, one withdraw from them their ordinary food, he shall be penny wise, and pound foolish.'" From "The Dictionary of Clichés" by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985).

Sowmini.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, dear. The meaning of this idiom is exactly as you described. It is somehow related to the shallow thinking of humans. I used this idiom in the article to highlight the shallow thinking of some individuals, and how they lose priceless things by focusing excessively on trivial and mundane matters.

I hope this helps clarify the use of the idiom in the context of the article.

Best regards, [Your Name]
