Hi HR professionals,

I am Jithender pursuing MBA (HR). I have a doubt regarding what the job profile of a management trainee is and its role as well. Does the role differ according to the functional area or remain the same?

Regards,
Jithender

Hi, there's no specific role designated for the management trainee. It depends on the industry he's inducted into, it depends on the designation, etc.

As an MBA fresher, you could have the opportunities to take up roles such as an HR generalist, recruiter, trainer, OD consultant, etc., based on the area. Then you get to know what your Key Result Areas (KRAs) are as well as the job responsibilities (competencies as well) one needs to perform effectively.

Another trend seen these days is that of a Functional consultant, be it for SAP, Oracle, etc. Well, if you are studying in one of the top premier institutes, it would be easy to get into these job profiles. Otherwise, one can start off as a recruiter (well, most freshers do) and then move on as you explore the possibilities in other areas.

Hope that answers, at least to an extent.
