Notes on Recruitment: Vacancy triggers the recruitment process. Recruitment is the process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply for jobs in the organization. Recruitment process involves: Identification of vacancy, Analyzing the vacant job, Applying the sources of recruitment (internal & external sources), Screening suitable resumes for interview, Initial interview with the candidates and shortlisting the suitable, Calling candidates for further/final rounds of interviews, Selecting suitable candidates for the vacant positions, Completing the documentation process and verification, Issuing offer letters, Performing the joining formalities, Recruiting the personnel, Scheduling induction programs for new joiners, and Following up on other HR activities. Sources of Recruitment include: Internal sources - Internal job posting, Considering previous and current employees of the organization; External sources - Employee references, Application data bank, Advertising, Employment agencies, Schools & colleges, Job portals. Interviews: Personal interview is the most universally used tool in any selection process. It serves three purposes: Obtaining information about prospective employees' background, work history, education, and interests; Giving information about the company, specific job, and personnel policies; Motivating the satisfactory applicant to want to work for the company or organization. However, in reality, it mainly helps in obtaining information about the candidate. Types of interviews include: Informal interviews, Formal interviews, Patterned interviews, Non-directive interviews, In-depth interviews, Stress interviews, Group interviews, Panel interviews. Suggestions for improving the effectiveness of interviews: Following a definite time schedule, Conducting interviews in a calm and cool atmosphere, Ensuring necessary elements of privacy, Avoiding mental tension and stress, Paying attention to communication skills, managerial abilities, and attitude, Having a panel conduct the interview, Informing the interviewee about the method and maximum time to get results.
