Dear all,
By mistake, we have allotted the same PF numbers to two different employees. One of the employees left his job two years ago and has not yet claimed his PF withdrawal. The other employee is currently working with us, and according to his PF slip (Form No. 23), his PF number is the same as the employee who left.
Therefore, we are seeing an increase in the PF account number of the former employee due to the current employee's PF contributions. We need to address this issue promptly.
Please advise on the necessary steps to rectify this situation.
Kindly do the needful.

Hi,
Please submit the letter to the PF department regarding the rectification of the PF number. Fill out Form 2 for the existing employee with the correct number and submit it to the PF department along with the correction letter. Follow up to ensure the rectification is done in the PF records to avoid any further trouble.

Thanks, Harshad, for sparing your valuable time on it. But as per your guidance, if I am submitting the new correct number to him, then what about his PF contribution which has been deducted in his present (duplicate) account? He will lose his PF contribution of at least two years.
