Hi Gunjan,

I am attaching an article that I have prepared based on the feedback I received from various recruiters. I have also included some snapshots from original resumes and highlighted common mistakes we tend to make when applying for jobs.

I hope you'll find it helpful.

Thanks, Gunjan

Gunjan, the post is filled with good information for anyone who is drafting and preparing a resume. For the novice, this is a helpful tool that will assist them in presenting themselves positively to a company, organization, or recruiter.

People should take quality time to prepare their resumes/CVs as it is the key that will unlock the door to securing a face-to-face interview. Most don't place much value on it; they think it is just another piece of paper. 🤔

Appreciate you sharing some great information. 😊

Dear Gunjan,

You are on point, and thank you a lot. I would like to add one more and make it a dozen - AVOID CLICHES. One gets really sick reading ad nauseam repeated phrases like "I will leave no stone unturned...." as though he is applying for a stone cutter's job. While attempting to market oneself, one may overdo it in most cases, but understatement and candidness also make for interesting reading.

Dear All,

Thank you all for appreciating my efforts. I am happy to see such a great response. These are only the points that I consider to be reasons for disqualifying resumes, but there may be more beyond this. I am keen to know if any of you have anything to add. Are there any other reasons for rejections that you can share with us?

Regards,
Gunjan

Hi Prashant,

Thanks for highlighting a new point. I do agree that sometimes people pretend to be on a high note and use exaggerated quotes and statements, hi-fi objectives. Though such things don't get the reviewer's attention. Nice one.

Thanks

Hey! Hello Varsha and Heena here. I liked your post. I'm doing BBA and am in my third year now. I just got the topic for a PPT titled "the impact of recession on the HR field." If you could help me or have any ideas on that, then I'll be thankful to you!

Dear All,

Thank you very much. Yesterday, when I logged on to citehr, I saw 60 views but no replies. I felt a bit disappointed to learn that not a single person had replied to my post, which took a week's time to prepare. However, I am now very happy to see your reviews about my post. I will soon try to post another informative article.

Thanks again,
Gunjan

Dear Gunjan Sarojwal,

We find your article quite useful. Another thing we notice is the use of "OBJECTIVE" at the top of the resume, where candidates often fill it with jargon in an attempt to make the sentence attractive. In most cases, it is seen as a ritual rather than a genuine understanding of the "objective." During candidate interviews, it is regrettable to note that many candidates are unaware of the purpose, significance, and even the meaning of the "objective."

As a result, they fail to make a good impression. I hope you agree with me that in most cases, resumes are prepared by professionals. A resume truly reflects the candidate's true colors only when it is compiled by the candidate themselves.

Not a very good post. I do not think a real professional would make such mistakes. This is suitable for those applying for a low cadre job

9. Covering letter/ note’s description- If your covering letter is one third or half of your resume, you may lose chances of getting shortlisted and why would a recruiter spend 10 mins in reading the information, as provided below:
Grateful if you can elaborate on this point, as this seems very relevant but I could not gather the intended advise
