Dear All,
I am working with an IT company, and we are planning to go for campus recruitment. Can anybody help me with how to go about it?
1. What steps should we follow?
2. How many rounds should there be?
3. What will be the training process?
4. How long can we keep them on the probation period?
5. What will be their stipend?
6. For confirmation, do we need to assign them any projects/presentation?
I need your inputs on this. Looking forward to your reply.

Dear Sara,
I can totally understand your problem. I went through it myself yesterday, and this is what we did.
We first had an Operations Person give an overview to all about the Industry, Company, and the opportunities available. We then asked them for queries and cleared their doubts.
After this, we did the initial screening through a test and shortlisted the candidates. After shortlisting, we have now told them we will get back to them within a week.
During this week, we will discuss their projects and try to find out their areas of interests.
Regarding the stipend, I think the company must pay some stipend since ultimately, even though they are on a project, they are working for the organization. Also, since they are getting paid, they are more motivated to do their best.
About the Probation - It normally is 6 months.
Hope this information will help you.

Hi Sara,
How are you?
Shweta has given a good idea on how to go for Campus. After the introduction of the company and the written test, I would suggest going for Group Discussion and Extempore. These two activities will help you shortlist confident and smart people, rather than overconfident students. I firmly believe this exercise works. The stipend can be clearly communicated to the students; it should not be discussed at later stages. I would like to know, though, for which posts you require the candidates.
Cheers! Archna

Hi Archana,
I am doing fine, what about you? Well, nice to see a reply from you. I think this will help a lot. We are looking for Developer positions. We are just planning to have campus recruitment, that's why I am preparing things beforehand so that I can start implementing that without any delay. Just doing my homework 😉.
I hope the team of Mehafil-e-Dili is doing well. I received an email from Devjit; felt nice. I have to reply to him; going to do that too.
Take care,
Sara

Hi Sara,
Good to hear that you are going for the campus recruitment. I agree with Shweta and Archana who have given their valuable suggestions to you. I would like to add some more points to them. Once you finish your briefing about the company, make them understand the competition in the present market and how to overcome the interviews and what exactly you look for during the time of interviews. If we can give them a few tips and suggestions, students who don't get through in your interview can prepare themselves better for the following campus drives.
Let's give them a helping hand in shaping up their career.
Followed by the written test, you can conduct a GD where you can filter the people and a basic technical interview, and finally, a HR round to check the confidence levels and attitude. I am sure the entire program will take a day or a maximum of two days depending on the student strength. I have conducted around 40 campus drives in my career till now.
Select the candidates with the right attitude, good communication skills, and basic technical knowledge.
You can always email me for any queries at satishgaddam@gmail.com.

Hi,
An important thing we need to consider is the number of backlogs these individuals have. In most of the current drives, people have one or two backlogs, and sometimes the company's HR department accepts individuals without verifying their mark sheets, allowing them to take exams after joining the company.
I believe that the test papers should be evaluated by individuals from the company or by individuals not associated with the college. There is a significant amount of fraud occurring, with some individuals even paying money to secure a job at that stage. The company needs to establish policies and procedures to address this issue. It's essential to involve the individuals who will be overseeing their work in the recruitment process. This involvement should extend to having these individuals participate as panel members after the written test.
Thank you.

Hi Sara,
Nice to hear that you are planning to recruit fresh talents from engineering institutes. I am Samarjit, working as a Manager - Placement & Training with a leading B-school in Bhubaneswar. I have finished my campus placement as I have successfully placed all students.
I can help you as I have good contacts with all available technical institutes in Orissa. I can gather more than 2000 students, and I will not charge anything from the company's side; we will arrange that with the institutes. If you are really looking for campus recruitment, then I can arrange both management and technical students.
