I am working on an assignment for my client to conduct the Compensation Survey for Sales Executives to Sales Manager level from various industries, i.e., FMCG, Print & Media, or publishing, to understand the status of these industries regarding their salary structures such as fixed and variable components and the pattern of payment.

Please advise with the details.

Hi Charu,

This is normally termed as costing. Do you have access to any job sites like Naukri, Monster, etc.? You can search for the profiles that you are looking for, and that will give you an idea of how much people are earning at different levels with different kinds of experience and in different companies. You can even talk to the candidates and learn about their components, what percentage is fixed, and how much is variable.

Dear HR Members,

I am often tempted to reply to such queries. However, the moot point is that beginners or individuals in need of urgent information should definitely conduct some research or work from home on any issue, regardless of the function. Just like how everyone needs instant connectivity or information through their mobile phones. Homework involves consulting colleagues, friends, contacts, and industry professionals to gather statistical data. This groundwork serves as supplementary information or a foundation to inquire further details through forums or to search online.

This approach offers several advantages, ranging from networking to obtaining information and understanding one's working style or preferences. Additionally, it enhances your critical thinking and analytical skills.

It is essential to remember that original thoughts and efforts are always valued and respected, irrespective of one's position in any industry.

Respected Sir,

I am a management student and working on my final project under the title: "Impact of recession on compensation policy in small & medium-scale industries." Thus, I need your guidance to prepare a questionnaire. I hope you will reply soon.
