Dear Ash,
I completely agree with what you say.In fact when I interview, the biggest turn-down for me are type of hobbies that any candidate mentions in his resume.Hobbies like "reading books and articles" etc. are a big turn-on for any interviewer.Because a company is willing to put in its time and money for you just with the expectations that you give your efforts and hard work in response. And your resume represents your professionalism. You are exactly right.Keep posting such useful info. You have been posting very truthful and useful things.Keep it up..All the best...

My dear frens,
There is nothing wrong in people having hobbies...
But we should know what should be mentioned on our resume. Bird watching... chatting... and all such stuffs, or playig with pets... may be ur hobbies but resume is NOT the place for that.
You could mention them on your facebook or orkut or other such social networking sites.
I understand Hobby is fun...masti.. playing in mud... (I even do that - but when I go to the beach wit my frens)
All of us feel comfortable at home and with the clothes we wear at home - so do we even wear the same thing for work??? NO. This is like that - U have an hobby...well and fine... keep it in your personal book and not professional resume :-)
:lol: I dont understand why some ppl misunderstood this part.
Everyone - you must have now understood why we need to stress on Resume writing guidelines!!.... Please contribute more valid points.
Thank you all for the views... keep posting.

Imagine u find a resume for an executive evel - who has a great track record -U r impressed with everything.. and at the end of the resume u see this one line - Hobbies - collecting stuffed toys... :icon4: Hey I came across this.
Now I am not saying that Collecting stuffed toys is a bad idea...but mentioning that on his resume - was definitely a baddd one!

Dear Rahul,
Hobbies are impt...but sometimes it does not create a good image abt onesself. Mentioning them in the right way matters...
Sometimes a few funny statements are enough to be screened out!

Actually such hobbies help the employees to bond better, like when you recruit people having common hobbies like playing some whacky gamee :beatup: they tend to go better, since their interests are the same,,:wink:

Dear Ash,
I do agree with you.
First thing I would like to mention is that while teaching English or any other languages attention to the basic things like grammar, short form, etc. is not given by teachers. These unchecked mistakes get carry forward thro' out the life. Even we parents are also not cross-checking these things. I’m not blaming anybody, but a fact.
