Hi all,

Can anyone please suggest to me whether there is any specialized course I could pursue in Labour Laws from somewhere? I want to add on to my qualifications post my PG in HR. As Labour Laws are an important aspect of the HR field, I was curious about it.

Hi gentlemen,

This subject can be specialized through LLB with specialization in Labour Laws. You won't find specialization in labour laws in Human Resources Management, although there is one introductory subject to labour laws affecting HR practices.

Hi Amitraj,

Nice to see your informative reply. I am interested in knowing whether a Master's in Labour Law authorizes the qualified candidate to register with the Bar Council of India and appear to practice in the courts of law anywhere in India?

You could do a Masters in Labour Laws & Labour Welfare (MLL & LW). It's a 2-year master's degree from a recognized university.

In order to become a legal practitioner, you need to do an LL.B degree from an institute affiliated with the Bar Council of India.

Hi,

Yes, you can do the course for Labor Laws. There are many universities that are conducting these courses, like Vardhman Mahaveer Open University. The course title is "PGD in Labour Laws, Industrial Relations & Personnel Management." Admission forms can be obtained from regional offices in various locations in Rajasthan in the months of June and December. The university is IGNOU.

Hi,
I am currently pursuing the same course, PG Diploma in Labour Laws from Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. My first observation is that it is very good in this institute. It's not just about a certificate, but rather the faculty is good, they have great knowledge, and all other facilities provided are also nice. You can get more details from www.ilidelhi.org.

Hi,

You can also do a labor course from the "Tamil Nadu Institute of Labor Studies" in Chennai. They offer BLM (Bachelor of Labor Management) and MLM (Master of Labor Management). These two courses are regular. In addition to that, they offer PGDLA (Post Graduate Diploma in Labor Administration), which is a part-time course.

To practice in labor law, you have to obtain an LLB from any recognized university. After completing the LLB, you need to apply for a "sanad" before the Bar Council to enroll yourself. Once you receive the "sanad" from the Bar Council, you become eligible to practice.
