For withdrawing the EPF (Provident Fund) and EPS (Pension Scheme) accumulations, you have to apply in Form 19 and Form 10 C respectively. The forms are available in the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation's office free of cost. You can also download them from the EPFO's website. One who has completed 10 years of service cannot withdraw the Pension Fund.

During the course of service, an employee is entitled to take an advance from the fund. There are different kinds of advances available, and separate guidelines are issued for each type of advance. For house construction, purchase of a residential building, etc., one has to complete a minimum of 5 years in the fund. For the marriage of self and dependants, the minimum service required is 7 years. Similarly, for major surgery, medical treatment, non-receipt of salary for a minimum of 2 months, loss caused by natural calamity, etc., an advance shall be permitted. Please visit the EPFO site for more information or provide details for which you wish to take an advance so that I can also be specific.

Hi Mr. Madhu,

Thank you for your brief explanation. I would like to know the withdrawal procedure of PF. Within how many days do we have to send the Form-10C and Form-19 after leaving the organization, and what percentage of the amount do we get?

With regards,

For withdrawal benefits, you have to submit Form 19 and 10C duly filled through your past employer. Normally, these forms are required to be submitted after a waiting period of two months to ensure that you are not employed in any organization where the EPF Act applies. That means you can send the withdrawal forms without any time limit. If you have not completed 10 years of service, you can get a full withdrawal + interest as applicable. This means double the amount contributed by you towards EPF.

If you withdraw PF after 3.8 years of service, you can get your own contribution of 12% plus the employer's contribution of 12% (8.33 + 3.67) by submitting both forms, namely, Form 19 and Form 10 C.
