Hi Everyone,

I have gone through the site-HR and have noticed that all other places other than Mumbai have this HR Meet monthly or maybe quarterly. I have seen a post that says there is an HR meet happening in Pune. I am sure that other people who are working in the HR domain in Mumbai will also be interested in an HR Meet in Mumbai. Let's get together and share our ideas and knowledge to learn and grow.

Hi, Mennakshi,

Your initiative is appreciated. It's nice if members in this community from Mumbai can organize the HR Meet and share their experiences, ideas, and issues. It will help to expand the network of HR professionals within the industry.

Go ahead!

Hi Friends,

We need to spread awareness among all HR professionals about this meeting 20 days in advance so that they can schedule their work routines accordingly and attend this HR event. Additionally, we need to consider that people often hesitate to attend meetings on Sundays as it is typically the day reserved for spending quality time with family and friends. One solution could be to schedule the event on Saturdays.

Let's come together to initiate the HR Meet in Mumbai and assist HR professionals in establishing a strong presence in their respective organizations.

S.S

Hi to all,

Yes, it would be really great if we have a meeting, as rightly said by Namitabh, in or around the first week of June. Let's invite all friends and folks we know in the HR field for this meeting. There should be someone who has to collect all the data and manage it, i.e., information about the members. So, I would like to do it for our group if others don't have any problem. If someone else wants to get involved in this, they are most welcome. If yes, then send me your name, phone number, email address on (With the subject "Mumbai HR Meet"). If we are able to do this, it would be a really great thing.

Regards, Sandeep K.

Dear Friends,

Let's kick start this meeting as soon as possible before the rains. I have been attending the Cite HR meeting in Pune, and I strongly believe that we can make this happen!

Points to ponder:
1. We need to organize the names of the members interested in the Mumbai meeting.
2. Place to meet - we could approach any MBA institute to offer us a classroom for the meeting.
3. Topic or agenda for discussion.

If I have missed any point, please add on. I am with you guys to get this organized; do let me know what help would be required from my end.

Hi All,

About the venue, we can try holding it at Welingkar's Institute as the institute is highly professional, supportive, and centrally located in the heart of the city. This location would be convenient for all HR professionals in Mumbai, including those coming from Town, Central Suburbs, Western Suburbs, and the Vashi area.

Your views are invited so that I can gather information from the institute regarding this meeting, including formalities, charges, and other details.

My email is yashswa.kulkarni@rediffmail.com.

Hi,

Some of us in Mumbai actually met up last year in October 08, I think. Sanjana, Karuna, Prasanna Hegde, Meenakshi Kemble, Kenneth (3G), and anyone else who attended - please correct me if I am wrong.

We met at Dadar, Gelato's - to avoid the mob at CCD. All thanks to Karuna Nayak for coordinating this meet and ensuring that we all made time to attend the meeting. This meeting was a "get to know in person" thing - we introduced ourselves with some background on how we got into HR and where we want to go. The overall meeting took about an hour or so... actually longer since not everyone (including me) reached on time.

As far as the agenda given by Ravinder goes, I would request you to kindly freeze on the duration of the meeting. I honestly don't think we can cover all the topics you mentioned in 2 or 3 hours.

So - let me know about the details of this meeting at . I am in - to attend and help!

Regards, Ryan

Hi,

This is a good idea to have a monthly HR meeting. Let's decide on the venue and timings without wasting much time. There are only 2 weeks remaining for the first week of June. Speed up if the majority of the crowd is ready, then go for it. I am sure that I will be attending that meeting.

Hello All,

I am a senior consultant at the niche innovation consulting firm, Erehwon (EREHWON INNOVATION CONSULTING). This proposal has been pending for some time now. We must do something about it. I am prepared to coordinate a meeting at the end of May, preferably on 30th May. Please comment on the following:

- A short 2-hour meeting (5 pm to 7 pm), mainly for introductions. No central speakers.
- Simple tea and snacks will be provided.
- The meeting will be held at a location around Andheri Kurla road, which I will organize.
- We will share the expenses.

Hi all,

Before I started this thread, I spoke to a few members in Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad about this HR meet, how they conduct it, what kind of sessions they have, how often they hold meetings, and a few more details.

The feedback that was most common was, "They said that when we post such tags for the meeting, the response is really good. However, on the day when the meet is supposed to happen, very few people turn up." My only point in conveying this to all of you is - let's not be like them. If any of us is not interested in attending the meeting, let's not build false hopes. We want more and more people to attend the meeting, and the top priority should be to have a good number of attendees. I believe only then will the sole motto of the meeting, which is "knowledge sharing," be achieved. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have one suggestion: when the HR meet happens, we will post a summary of what exactly occurred in the meeting and what the agenda was all about. I will take the responsibility for that. This will help people, even outside the group, know that we have meetings not just for getting together but our sole aim is to share knowledge and strengthen the HR community in their respective fields.

Thanks & Regards,
Meenakshi Kaul

Dear Meenakshi,

Very well said. We can conduct it as per the agenda or as a general discussion without having any central point. If following an agenda, it has already been posted by me under the same thread. I am waiting for the consensus of all. All set to go...

Hi all,

Meenakshi seems ideally placed to coordinate the first Mumbai meet. So, Meenakshi, go ahead and start it. I will surely attend. My suggestion is - instead of waiting for too long, let us have the first meeting pronto. Purpose, form, etc., will automatically follow thereafter. Too much deliberation at the beginning may cause interest to flag off.

Best,

Hi Members,

I have been waiting for the Mumbai meet for quite a long time. Finally, members have started taking initiatives. Can we have a meeting, say by mid-March at Vashi (Navi Mumbai) Raghuleela or Inorbit? Arrangements will be taken care of.

Let me know your feedback.

Dear HR Mumbaikars,

I would be very delighted to make this materialize. I tried organizing it last time but with a lukewarm response. I will again try to seek your support and let's organize it together. Garima, Meenakshi, kudos for your enthusiasm. My number is 9967647279. Let's all make this a success.

Dear all,

I am new to CiteHR. I see lots of postings about an HR meet in June 08 and then suddenly the scene shifts to Feb 2009. Did any meeting happen in between? Where is the real issue I am wondering. I would be interested in providing any assistance in organizing. I see Meenakshi, Namitabh, and many others showing interest. Who is managing the database of people? I can volunteer to manage the database of interested people in Mumbai. If it is becoming too cumbersome to organize, we can simply meet, as someone said in a coffee shop or something, and set it rolling. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Hi all,

As per Neeraj's suggestion, I went through lots of threads that mentioned HR meets in Mumbai. Here are some observations:
- Threads run from 2006, 2007, and in 2008 also. Very few in 2009.
- So far, more than 190 persons have expressed interest in coming to an HR meet.
- Meetings were planned and postponed many times due to lukewarm responses. However, the Drishti group was able to successfully organize a meeting, and once Yogesh Pahuja organized a meeting. I also saw meetings organized by Karuuna & team.
- Few people who have shown enthusiasm in organizing, or took some steps include (not a complete list):

Meenakshi Kaul
Namitabh Kothari
Karuuna
Priyanka Upasani
Amit Pradhan
Sanjna Dhopatkar
NIKHIL
Yogesh Pahuja
Rajat Joshi
Dipali Golwala
Rohan Kelkar
Anuradha Zingade
Supriya Rode
(Cite Contribution)
Vinod Vijapur
Vrushali
Neeraj Agrawal

Let us acknowledge all of them for their contribution in building up the momentum at different points of time.

I had called Karuuna. She suggested that 4 April 09 is too short notice for people to show up. She has maintained a Yahoo group for Mumbai HR people. I request all the people who managed lists so far in Mumbai to pool the resources together. Someone can take charge of collating. I can also volunteer for that.

I have collated a list of all the people who ever expressed interest in attending an HR meet in Mumbai. This contains around 190 names with either emails or mobile numbers or both or none. Karuuna has promised that she will include this list in her Yahoo group and will circulate a message for a meeting in April 2009 to fix up a date and see the response.

In case someone's details have changed or were wrongly entered, please email the details to [email protected] and/or [email protected]

Looking forward to meeting all of you and having regular Mumbai HR meets where people share their insights, pool their capacities, and everyone learns and grows.

Regards,

Rohan Singal

P.S. The list of 190 names is attached. Please DO NOT update this list and post again as it creates multiple versions.
