The minimum wages applicable to different industries and under shops and establishments differ from industry to industry and shops. The minimum wages of each industry are revised by the minimum wages committee from time to time. It is not necessary that the minimum wages of all industries should be revised at a time. Therefore, it is not possible to get a fair understanding of the wages of a particular industry offhand. The rates of wages applicable will be available in the Labour Office. Therefore, please be in touch with the Labour Department of the respective area.

In Kerala, unlike other states, the minimum wages notification is not issued every 6 months but only when revised minimum wages are fixed for the industry. Once a notification is issued for a particular industry, it will be in force for at least 5 years.
However, in Kerala, the Dearness Allowance (DA), which is linked to Consumer Price Indices, is decided every month. For this, no separate notification is issued, but the employer is expected to calculate the month's VDA based on the CPI published by the Department of Economics and Statistics. The rate of DA is obviously available in the minimum wages notification itself.
