Addressing Work Negligence: Discipline and Surveillance in the Workplace - CiteHR

Dear Seniors,

Kindly advise on the following topic. We have charged four workmen for "negligence of work" based on the supervisor's report stating they were not at the machine after reporting for duty and were found sleeping. We also have recordings on the surveillance camera showing the machine running in idle condition with date and time.

We have chargesheeted the workers involved and initiated an inquiry. Kindly comment. Kindly provide case laws to strengthen our case. Details of a similar case will be appreciated.

Hi,

This type of activity is happening in 24/7 environments in industries. You can send them a severe notice and also issue a two or three-day suspension memo (Management decision) for these activities. If it is happening for the first time, you can take this action since it affects production and productivity.

"Negligence of work" will be punishable.
