Dear All,

As an HR professional, we have a great amount of experience and knowledge of various industries. My question for today for all is: as an HR person with 3-4 years of experience, is it advisable to change one's sector/industry if getting a good chance, or should one stay in the same sector/industry (e.g., retail) and gain experience? Should one stay in only one line and gain experience, or should one change industries (in the early years of the job)?

Kindly shed some light on this issue.

It depends on individuals' perception. If you want to specialize in your domain, then you can stay in the same sector; otherwise, it is better to explore other sectors. Nowadays, the industry requires individuals with broad knowledge. Considering this, you can choose a different sector.

Dear All senior members,

A very good evening to you all. I really want some useful suggestions regarding the same. My experience is as follows:

- 2 years as a caller (telecom)
- 3 months in recruitment
- 1 year as an Executive in the HR Department, assisting the VP HR (Healthcare sector)

Now, I have been trying to secure a job in good hospitals, but I am receiving offers in other sectors from reputable companies. Should I consider changing my sector now? Will there be any opportunity in the future to land a good job in hospitals?

Amrita

"Search for the knowledge where you can mold the knowledge into skills that add value to your career. So, change is required. Change the industry (when you feel that you have learned), but a constant change is required. That is, change the industry when you gain knowledge and experience in a particular field.

I think you should change the industry every 2-3 years; that is beneficial for you. You can stay in it when you are interested in that company.

With regards,
Valbooj"
