Dear All,

Please find the details on the mobile phone policy in corporates.

Entitlement:

Recognizing the job requirements, nature of responsibilities, and in furtherance of company business, the company provides employees in designated positions with a mobile phone.

If any employee who is not entitled to a mobile phone requires one for exigencies or specific job requirements, they will have to get approval/sanction (format attached).

The company will pay the monthly rental charges, plus taxes and call charges to the extent of Rs.500/- only. Any bill amount exceeding this limit, other than official calls, would be recovered. Needless to add, the company expects team members to be cost-conscious in the usage of cell phones.

STD/ISTD facilities will be provided on a case-to-case basis only.

Handset:

The management will decide on the service provider and the model of the handset, based on availability from time to time.

The member is solely responsible for the upkeep and safety of the handset.

In case of loss of the handset, members are required to inform the Administration Department immediately. The cost of the handset will be recovered from the member. In the event of separation from the company, the handset and SIM card need to be surrendered.

I have corrected the spelling, grammar, and formatting errors in the text. The meaning and tone of the message have been preserved.

It does sound like a good communication system within the corporation, but somehow it also encourages overexpenditure on communication. This can sometimes overshadow traditional personal contact, which is still proven to be safe and more effective, as well as more proper in terms of black and white communications.

This should be reconsidered, I think.
