Hello, I have a lot of unclaimed provident funds from 2009 until 2013. Back in the day, there was no UAN process. How do I retrieve PF?

I have already written to the ex-employers, but I have not received a response yet.

Location: Mumbai. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Hi, If PF money is not claimed (and not active) for more than 5 to 7 years, then it will be moved to the unclaimed fund as per the PF office's policy. In your case, you haven't claimed PF for more than 10 years. Therefore, you should provide a proper justification for not claiming PF for such an extended period. Typically, members claim that they worked abroad, etc. An explanation letter addressed to the PF office is required. You can claim by submitting a Composite claim along with all supporting documents. However, an offline claim might take a considerable amount of time. Alternatively, you can request your last employer to create a UAN and facilitate the transfer process as well.

Thank you so much for responding. Means a lot. Your response got me to think what happens to the interest in such a case and also what is a composite claim form.

Hi, If your PF account does not receive any contributions for more than 3 years, interest won't be credited to your PF account after the 3rd year.

PF Claims Process

For PF claims earlier, Form 19 & 10C were used. Now the same is replaced with Composite Claim Form.

Interest on PF Account

You will receive interest on your PF account until the age of 58 years as per PF rules (recently amended).

How to Claim Your PF

To claim your PF, please contact either your employer or the PF Office directly with your PF Number details. Providing an old payslip or PF statement would be beneficial at this stage.

Application Process

You must apply in physical format using Form No. 19 and 10-C, get your employer's signature on them, and submit them to EPFO.

Settlement Process

The settlement process may take a maximum of 60 days.
