Hi all, I am writing here because I am not able to find the solution to a problem. I have lost my company tablet, ID, and my personal laptop, as well as money, during company travel on the train. I have filed an FIR at the railway police station and informed my superiors.

While I was working for the company, they did not question me, but after my resignation, they are now asking me to pay the amount for Full and Final settlement. My question is, should the company get reimbursement from me for this cost, or should some other action be taken?

Regards, Ajay Kumar

General Asset Policy

The general asset policy states that if damage, theft, loss, etc., occurs in the employee's custody, the employee is responsible for the loss. Some companies may bear the cost if it was an accident and not intentional, but in most cases, companies recover the cost incurred on assets from the employee.

Hi, How old was the tablet, and was the cost recovered in proportion to the age of the tablet? As an employee, you are responsible for the assets that were in your custody. More than the cost, the company will be more concerned about the company's business data on the tablet (if any). If the company remains silent on such issues, tomorrow, everybody will take it for granted.
