Hi,
I recently organized a Pune HR fraternity meet to bring everyone together. However, I noticed that most meetings, regardless of the location, often fall short of achieving their intended purpose. Both in terms of attendance (number of members) and the exchange of ideas.
What do you believe could be the reasons that deter members from participating in such activities meant for learning and sharing knowledge? What are the expectations from these meetings?
Members, please share your thoughts.
Thanks

I observed that most meets (irrespective of the locality) do not quite reach the intended purpose. Neither the numbers (of members) nor the ideas.
What do you think could be the reason that keeps members out of such activities intended for learning and knowledge sharing? What are the expectations from such meets....
I really appreciate that you stood up to speak on this topic.
Regarding this, I was asking the coordinators of CITE HR All INDIA meet to give the Agenda of the Meet, Duration of the Meet, and what exactly they are going to do in the CITE HR meet.
There are some points to be considered by the organizers of the MEET while organizing any meet.
The detailed agenda of the meet should be circulated to participants a long time before the meet. (This has not yet been done for the All India CHR meet, and they have already started registrations. If XX people register now, and if tomorrow you announce the agenda of the meet which emphasizes a particular type of industry, then members who are not from that type of industry would ultimately withdraw their registration for the meet. It is not easy for every member to arrange to come to the meet without a proper agenda or objective. Even though initially members are excited, as the meet nears, many withdraw their registration, considering the transportation cost and the non-relevant agenda for their industry.)
More coming in part II.

A meeting must have an agenda, a specific objective, a purpose, which includes the introduction of members in the FIRST MEET. As the members are of various backgrounds, the similar groups need to be formed, and these groups can discuss the topics related to their industry.
Most meetings ultimately end up as get-togethers and tea snacks time. Till now, I have attended only one meeting in my city, that too with only one CITE HR member 😜😜😜😜😜😜. Only we two had a meeting for about 1.5 hours. But as the members are so few, and it was the first meeting, nothing specific could be discussed.
Would request the HONORABLE SENIOR MEMBERS TO SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS TOPIC.
THANKS AND REGARDS CKS

Appreciate your inputs. I really am looking at this discussion as a turning point for all the city HR meets at local levels. Members, please do express your views and concerns!

Hi,
The theme of the meeting should be set and communicated to the members in advance to enable them to come prepared for discussion. We can have one of the current/hot HR issues as the theme for the meeting. Additionally, we can organize a short lecture by a renowned HR specialist to attract more HR professionals.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi,
I understand your thoughts. Take a cue from our Delhi members; you can keep in touch with Archna HR. The meeting outcome was very good.
Also, talk to Bangalore CiteHR members to know how well the meeting shaped up and to understand the drawbacks of the meeting so that they are not repeated.

Hi Friends,
We have organized seven meetings in Chennai, and the only mission for now is to make it:
1. A platform to learn
2. Provide opportunities for people to network
3. Ensure that people are free to discuss their challenges.
We have been doing this for a year now. I believe people who participated in our meets find it useful. You can repeat the same to make their time and your time worth.
Regards,
Vijayakumar
