Dear HR Professionals, I hope you are having a great time. I am an IT recruiter and work for Global IT companies. As the year changes, so do the responsibilities. Recently, I have been asked to hire diverse candidates for US recruitment. I dug into Google to learn about Diversity and Inclusion, but that is not sufficient. I want to actually learn how to find diverse candidates on social media and professional sites like LinkedIn, GitHub, and Stack Overflow.
Tips for Finding Diverse Candidates
If someone has some tips/tricks or strings to find candidates on LinkedIn, please share and educate me.
Thank you in advance!

There is no advanced feature on LinkedIn as of now that can help you find diverse candidates. Some people from the LGBTQIA community put a flag next to their names. People with disabilities are difficult to locate. The best option would be to regularly post on LinkedIn and let people know that you are looking to hire diverse candidates. Also, there are a lot of groups which you may join.

Dear Aakriti Gupta,
Factors of workforce diversity
Fostering workforce diversity is always a challenge. The factors of workforce diversity are:
a) Age
b) Language/Mother tongue
c) Nationality
d) Region
e) Religion
f) Qualification
g) Gender (including third gender)
h) Specially-enabled persons
i) Skin color
To begin with, I recommend you categorize the workforce based on the above factors. Once you understand which factors are least represented, you can start recruiting to increase the percentage of that factor. Fostering workforce diversity is an ongoing exercise, and every year you need to analyze the breakdown of the manpower and understand which factors merit your focus.
Strategies for fostering diversity
To foster diversity, you cannot rely solely on LinkedIn. You need to seek help from the job portals popular in the various regions where your company has offices.
Thanks,

There is no shortcut to finding diverse candidates anywhere. The first thing you need to understand is that diversity information is very personal, and it can be ethically and legally wrong to ask a candidate about that. Some job portals can help you find persons with disabilities, and if gender diversity is part of your mandate, you will be able to search for female candidates.
