Dear Friend Monika,
UGC - NET is an exam conducted by the University Grants Commission, widely known as the National Eligibility Test. After completing any post-graduation with 55% marks, you can appear for the examination.
Remember that UGC-NET is only an examination and not a course or degree.
This examination is a certificate that gives you eligibility to be appointed as a lecturer in any university or aided college.
The examination is a full-day examination consisting of three papers: two objective type exams and one descriptive exam. One objective examination consists of general teaching eligibility, which is common for all subjects, and the other objective type exam is about the subject you opted for. The afternoon session is one descriptive exam on your opted subject.
There are two examinations held yearly, in December and May. Since the application time for the December exam is over, you can apply for the May exam. The application call will mostly come during February-March for the May exams.
I hope your doubts are somewhat cleared.
