A leading education institute operates in several parts of India and is spread all over the country, employing more than 10,000 people. About 30 percent of the employees belong to the executive cadre, occupying various managerial and other administrative positions in different functional areas such as admissions, finance, student welfare, hostel, mess, IT, and HR departments.

Revamping Organization and Management Policies

Recently, the institute has decided to revamp the organization and management policies with the specific objective of making it a performance-driven and professionally managed organization.

Dear Dr. Sophia Ansari, you have not provided the context of your query. Why have you raised this query? You are a Doctor. Are you a Ph.D. in the field of management? If yes, then why are you seeking an answer from a public HR forum for the case study?

Anyway, let me provide a response for the benefit of other forum members.

The Role of Management Consultants in HRM

Management consultants do not work in a vacuum. To introduce important HRM policies and procedures, the consultant needs to conduct a SWOT Analysis of the organization. These policies and procedures aim to improve the competitiveness of the organization. Technological changes are happening at a rapid pace, reshaping customer behavior. Against this backdrop, the first and foremost evaluation must determine whether the organization is capable of addressing these changes. Technological changes are also creating new opportunities. In which areas can opportunities be created?

Impact of Technological Changes on Education

The education field is also being reshaped by technological changes and those induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the first question that arises is: Has the educational institution introduced newer courses, or are they continuing with the same old courses that were valid yesterday?

Feedback from Graduates

The second important aspect is to take feedback from recently graduated students. Were the courses effective in addressing their career needs? What are the strengths and weaknesses of our courses?

There are a few other things that can also be done. However, to provide a comprehensive reply, we need to have a complete understanding. Suggestions can be given after that.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar

Dear Devikar Sir, thank you for your response. The above case is a real situation in my organization, and I am working there as a faculty member. This situational case has been assigned to me. If I am hired as an HR consultant by the company to incorporate the latest developments in the area of HRM, I would like to explain the important policies and procedures that I will suggest to the company for implementation. I will illustrate my answer with suitable theoretical concepts and empirical examples.

I wanted to seek guidance and suggestions from all the learned members of the group.
