As of now, the tunneling industry would fall under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. After the implementation of the new Labor Codes effective from 01-04-2021, it will come under the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Conditions Code, 2020 concerning the working conditions of employees and other applicable codes based on the subject matters dealt with.
