One of our employees re-joined the company after 1.5 months. His previous service was 4 years. Now, whether his service will continue from the previous duration or will be counted as new, is there any rule for the minimum time/break required to rejoin the same company?

Hi,

Please clarify the period of the break as it is not clear. Are you referring to 1.5 months? If it is one or two months and if it has already been approved by the employer, then you can treat the absence period as a break-in-service and continue with the old employment. If the period of absence is longer and if the previous employment settlement is over, then offer him a new employment.

Hi, If previous employment is settled then obviously you have no other option except to consider as fresh employment.
