I worked in a company for 3 years and recently resigned. While I was working in the company, they provided me with a number to check and obtain my PF UAN number. I went to the Employment office in Chennai, both in Rayepet and Ambattur. They informed me that the number belonged to someone else, Suganthi V. I reported this to the company, explaining what the Employment office had told me. The company assured me they would rectify the issue, but months passed without any further action from them. I attempted to resolve the matter while still employed there, but time passed with no progress. Eventually, a few months before resigning, I inquired with the company about my PF UAN number.
Joint Declaration Process
They informed me that they had provided a "Joint Declaration By The Member And The Employer" letter to correct only the name. I asked if this was sufficient for the necessary changes, to which they confirmed it was. I then took this letter to the Employment office in Rayepet, where they provided an attested copy and instructed me to return after a month. When I returned, the Employment office informed me that the company was not registered in their zone and advised me to approach the company directly. Upon doing so, the company provided me with another "Joint Declaration By The Member And The Employer" letter to submit in Ambattur, this time for a complete change including Name, Father's name, and Date of Birth.
Challenges with Employment Office
However, when I presented this letter in Ambattur, the Employment office refused to accept it, citing that it entailed too many changes. They instructed me to seek clarification from the company, stating that employees cannot make such detailed alterations. I relayed this information to the company, but they have not provided a satisfactory response, asking me to wait for further instructions without any clear resolution in sight. Feeling frustrated by the lack of progress, I am considering lodging a complaint against the company and taking appropriate action. Please advise on the steps I should take next.

Hello S. Gopinathan Shanmugam, you can edit some of your basic details online. First of all, you need to register yourself on the UAN member portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.g...mberinterface/. After registration, you can modify your basic details such as your Date of Birth as provided in your Aadhar card. Once you submit your details, your previous information will need to be authenticated through a digital signature online.
For the withdrawal of your PF fund, you do not need to visit any office; you can do it online. The address mentioned above will provide you with more information to understand the new system.

I am not sure if the company has submitted my proof to obtain the PF number. I am also unsure if the mobile number I provided for registration is correct.
The company provided me with a PF UAN number, but the employment office claims that the number belongs to someone else. The company insists that it is my PF UAN number.
I only received a letter from the company titled "Joint Declaration By The Member And The Employer." However, the employment office refuses to accept this letter, stating that the changes need to be made entirely by the company.
I have been facing difficulties for nearly a year due to this issue. The company is pressuring me with the letter, causing delays in the process. The employment office insists that only the company can make the necessary changes. The company is neglecting this matter and not taking it seriously.
I would like to know what legal actions can be taken against the company in this situation. Thank you for your assistance.

You can register your mobile number without the help of your company. You have the details of your PF account (Joint declaration form). You can submit details as per the Joint declaration form, and once you register, you can modify some basic details like your name and DOB as per your Aadhar card.
Once you modify these details, ask your company to authenticate them through a digital signature. If there is a problem only with the name, then you need not submit any other document in the PF office. However, if your DOB is also wrong and the difference is more than 1 year, then you have to submit proof of your DOB along with the Joint declaration form containing the reference number of your modification application online to your regional PF office.
