We have a few employees whose monthly salary is less than 13k, and we are deducting ESI for them. My question is, do we need to cover them under Group health insurance, as we do for other employees who earn more than 15k?

Hi,

GHI is not only for non-ESI employees; it can also be used for slab employees of ESI. However, in rare cases, they use both. I would advise not to issue GHI for ESI employees because they are already paying for ESI services. In our company, 30% and 60% are contributed for GHI. If employees want GHI even though they are in ESI, they have to contribute 100% for GHI.
