Hope all of you are doing well!

Kindly draft me an email or suggest criteria for my workplace in case employees damage company property. What should be the penalty for them? We need suggestions from all of you.

Dear Minakshi, if the damage to the company property was discovered, then you need to conduct a fact-finding enquiry. Have you done that? While conducting the enquiry, the following factors need to be considered:

a) Who was involved in the damage? Was it only one person or more than one person?

b) Was there a transgression of the laid-down procedure or SOP?

c) The person who has caused the damage, was he capable of handling the job or task? Did he know under what circumstances the company property gets damaged?

d) Were there similar instances in the past?

While recovering the damaged property, take into account the depreciation of the property. Secondly, when levying the penalty, make sure that you divide the penalty amounts into as many installments so that the employee(s) get at least 50% of their take-home salary.
