Hello, I am Pravin Shirke. I am working in a company. Whenever I ask them for the salary slip, they deny the request and tell me, "Why do you need the salary slip?" What is the way for me to get the salary slip?

Salary Slip and Legal Requirements

You may insist upon a salary slip as it is a statutory necessity, prescribed in Form XIII of the Payment of Wages Act 1948. Additionally, as per Section 13A of the Payment of Wages Act 1936, the employer is required to maintain a register of wages paid, including the details of deductions made, for a period of three years. Therefore, the employer will be required to produce such records to the labor authorities, and a copy thereof can be obtained.

Concerns About Denial of Salary Slip

It is difficult to understand what useful purpose is served by denying the salary slip. The feudal legacy continues despite being a "Welfare State" for nearly 70 years. Are you paid in cash or through a bank? Have PF and ESI deductions been made? Is there any attendance recording system in place? Is there any other evidence of the factum of employment?
