Dear Seniors, please let me know what went wrong in this issue and your views on it.
Employee Service and Death Date Discrepancy
One of the employees worked with us for almost 2 years. Up to 12-5-17, he came to the office. On 13-5-17 early morning, he died due to a health issue. Since he didn't have attendance on 13-5-17, we marked his last date of working as 12-5-17. We updated this date in PF as well as in ESI. In the Death Certificate, his date of death is 13-5-17.
EDLI Application Rejection
When we applied for EDLI, it got rejected stating that the employee died while NOT IN SERVICE. I'm not getting a proper response or answers from the PF Office.
Please give your suggestions...

HIi, Please note the last working day in case of death is always the date of death. Thus you need to meet the senior govt officials and raise your concern to get the benefit for deceased employee.
Dear Anamika,
Without applying proper consideration, you have indicated the exit date as 12/05/2017. Could you please provide the reason for the exit?
Now, kindly issue a letter to the EPF Department along with the death certificate to inform them that there was an error in mentioning the exit date as 12/05/2017. Additionally, clarify that the individual passed away while still in service. The EDLI claim will be honored.
I recommend not spending more time on this platform; instead, proceed to the relevant PF Department and address the matter in writing as previously suggested. Thank you.
